N25 Oaklands & N30 Mountelliott Roundabouts Construction

The project involved the construction of two new roundabouts in New Ross town to regulate traffic flows at 2 major intersections. The N25 Oaklands Roundabout involved the construction of a new roundabout at the intersection of the N25 and R733 to replace the existing T-Junction. The N30 Roundabout involved the construction of a new roundabout at the intersection of the N30 and R700 to replace the existing T-junction. The works had to be constructed in distinct phases to maintain existing two-way traffic flows on approach roads together with safe and effective pedestrian management. David Walsh Civil Engineering Ltd. provided a dedicated Temporary Traffic Management Service in respect of design, implementation, maintenance.

The project involved the construction of reinforced concrete footings to support 800m of masonry stone wall, together with the construction of reinforced concrete headwalls, foundations for public lighting, road signage and plinths for ESB mini-pillars and associated infrastructure. A key element of the contract works involved the diversion and relocation of existing ESB, EIR, watermain and GNI infrastructure.
