Great Island Power Station 110KV Duct Installation

Under the National Ducting and Trenching Framework with ESB, David Walsh Civil Engineering Ltd. were awarded a contract to install a 23-way duct bank to supply power from between two existing substations within the Great Island Power Plant in Wexford. The ducting needed to be installed under existing 110V and 38KV low lying overhead lines and the route also contained several High Voltage underground crossings which had to be overcome using transition concrete slabs. Sections of the ducting were installed on steep inclines that required temporary works design solutions.
